The San Diego Breakers had to overcome a big game from Oakland second baseman Salvador Colón to leave Oakland Ball Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-3. Colón went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Bobby McCarthy. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 0. Vinnie Tyson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.

San Diego used a clutch at-bat from Jerry Bilbrey to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Breakers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I like winning," Bilbrey told the San Diego Citizen. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."

Their 33-45 record puts the Breakers 4th in the Pacific Coast League South.
