Victory Pushes Acorns Record to 49-33
|
The Oakland Acorns got a magnificent effort from pitcher Wilson Chávez, who kept Los Angeles hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Acorns win at Wrigley Field. Chávez, the winner, moves to 8-2. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. Mark Ervin notched his 18th save of the season.
John Adams, who is tied for 10th in the CL with a .555 slugging percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Adams contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Oakland up, 3-0.
When asked about his performance after the game, Adams said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
Oakland currently is in first place in the Pacific Coast League North at 49-33.
