Locusts Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
The Kansas City Jacks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Everett Strickland into a win. Instead, the Salt Lake City Locusts prevailed, 5-4, in 11 innings. Strickland threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The winner in relief was Greg Smith. He is now 5-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The Locusts have now reeled off 6 straight wins.

The Locusts got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Jeff Bruce. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Locusts.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Bruce.
