Big Game from Fernández Not Enough, Cowboys Lose
The inspired effort of Austin first baseman Daniel Fernández was not enough to prevent a loss, 12-8, to the Las Vegas Strip. Fernández slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Lorenzo Morales got the win, improving to 6-7. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 4. Las Vegas now sports a record of 29-51.

Michael McGowan had a big 3-run home run for the Strip in the bottom of the second inning. With Las Vegas trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Mack Dupuis and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Strip on top, 4-3.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Las Vegas skipper Charlie Donovan.
