The Denver Grizzlies could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ernesto Leal into a win. Instead, the Minneapolis Millers prevailed, 7-4. Leal threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win was credited to 36-year old left-handed pitcher Robert Cooper in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jim Hamilton took the loss. Billy McBurie, credited with the save, is now 1 for 4 in save opportunities.

Had Rodrigo Méndez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Méndez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Millers.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Méndez told the Minneapolis Citizen.

Minneapolis is now 39-43.
