Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Denver Grizzlies were eager to watch Miguel Valedón square off against Robert Rice of the visiting Homer Yetis. In the end, the Grizzlies won the game, 6-3, with Miguel Valedón leading the way.

Carlos García had a big 2-run home run for the Grizzlies in the bottom of the third inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from fireballing 6' 8" right-hander Robert Rice and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Grizzlies on top, 3-0.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Denver manager Chris Needham.
