The Las Vegas Strip and Austin Cowboys provided some drama for the home crowd.

The 5-4 Austin win over Las Vegas was due largely to Luis López. The Cowboys left fielder hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Tomás Meléndez earned the win to go to 8-6. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts in 7 innings of work.

López had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch changeup from Héctor Peña, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Cowboys a 5-3 lead. It was the 24th home run of the year for López.

Austin manager John Kolman praised his team's "businesslike approach."

Austin now has a record of 44-41 with the win.
