The exploits of right fielder Walt Kane, who is on pace for 112 RBI this season, helped the Austin Cowboys defeat the Dallas Eagles, 6-1. Kane went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Austin currently is in second place in the Pioneer League South at 45-42.
In the top of the seventh, Jeff Dunbar stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Eagles were trailing 4-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when Steve Johnson made a terrific pitch and Dunbar flied out. Gone was the dream of a Dallas comeback.
