At Higgins Park, the New Orleans Pelicans and Reno Silver Sox were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Reno Silver Sox topped the New Orleans Pelicans, 7-5, with youngster Tristan Veronese playing a key role. Veronese went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Silver Sox in the win. Reno, now 48-40, holds down third place in the Pioneer League South.
The Silver Sox got a big at-bat from center fielder Jesús Salcido. For the game, Salcido was 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Reno a 6-4 lead.
"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Zach Ames.
