The timely hitting of Walt Kane helped the Austin Cowboys down the Salt Lake City Locusts, 4-3. Kane went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Cowboys. The win was credited to Rod Lee in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Mark Cahill took the loss. With the loss, Salt Lake City sinks to 5-5.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Austin second baseman Wilson Pérez, facing Mark Cahill, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Cowboys the 4-3 win.
