Owls Need Extra Innings to Top Beavers, 8-7
Despite a great performance by Portland left fielder Jim Poole, the San Jose Owls defeated the Beavers by the score of 8-7 in 11 innings at Ballpark of San Jose. Poole was 5 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. San Jose reliever Judd Sánchez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Scott Witt took the loss. With the win, San Jose raised its record to 48-45.

The decisive blow was delivered by Pablo Mejía in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 31-year old left-handed pitcher Scott Witt to win the game for San Jose. The home crowd went nuts.

"This joint was rocking," said Mejía.
