Ports Come Up Short at San Bernardino, 3-2
The San Bernardino Stallions earned a close win over the Long Beach Ports, thanks in part to Félix Brito. The San Bernardino left-hander, who finished 4th in the CL in wins with 16 in 2001, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Reliever Jason Gore picked up the win. His record improves to 5-5. Jorge Rodríguez, who is tied for 10th in the CL in quality starts with 11, took the loss. Nate Camacho collected his 3rd save.

Had Steve Williams not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Williams hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Stallions.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Brito.

The victory puts San Bernardino at 28-68.
