Pelicans Even Record with 2-0 Victory
|
In a tight tilt between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Homer Yetis, Ronnie Gordon was the deciding factor. The New Orleans right-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Gordon, now 7-4. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. With the victory, the Pelicans record stands at 50-50.
Billy Bunch had a big run-scoring double for the Pelicans in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New Orleans leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a cutter from Orlando García, who finished 3rd in the PL in strikeouts with 318 in 2011, and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 2-0.
"Scoring was at a premium tonight," Gordon said.
