The Oakland Acorns and San Bernardino Stallions played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The Oakland Acorns topped the San Bernardino Stallions, 3-1, in 11 innings at Oakland Ball Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Oakland pitcher Cecil Gibson. The win went to Wilson Chávez in relief, making him now 4-1. Don Burkett took the loss for San Bernardino.

The decisive blow was delivered by Ramón Salcido in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Don Burkett to win the game for Oakland. The home crowd went nuts.

"The crowd flipped out," Gibson said.

The Acorns saw their win-loss record go to 56-45. At the same time, the Stallions fell to 30-72.
