McCord Shines in 7-1 San Jose Win
San Jose center fielder Pat McCord had a 4-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Long Beach Ports, 7-1. Manuel Gutiérrez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jorge Rodríguez, who is tied for 6th in the CL in complete games with 1, was tagged with the loss. San Jose now owns a record of 52-49.

There was more than one reason the Owls beat the Ports, but McCord's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"Chalk one up for the good guys," said McCord. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
