In a low-scoring tilt between the Salt Lake City Locusts and the New Orleans Pelicans, Pete Howard, who is tied for 4th in the PL in strikeouts with 121, was the difference-maker. The Salt Lake City right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Howard yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-6. Mark Cahill wrapped it up, recording his 21st save.

Orlando López helped out the Salt Lake City cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the catcher went 2-3 with a double and a walk.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Howard said after the game.
