Late Rally by Locusts Secures 5-3 Win
|
Despite a great performance by New Orleans right fielder Joe Sandoval, the Salt Lake City Locusts defeated the Pelicans by the score of 5-3 at Higgins Park. Sandoval went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. Salt Lake City, at 57-46, sits in third place in the Pioneer League North.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Murray Keller? The 23-year old third baseman Keller stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Salt Lake City up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
Salt Lake City manager Nate McGinty called it "a darn good win."
