Starting Pitcher Pete Howard was lights out, as the Salt Lake City Locusts beat the Las Vegas Strip, 3-1. Howard got the win, improving to 8-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Mark Cahill got the save, the 22nd for him this season.
The Locusts had to work out of trouble with no one out in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Salt Lake City. But Las Vegas, with a runner on 1st, had mounted a threat. Ryan Hickman dug in at the plate. But on a 1-1 fastball, Hickman hit into a double play.
The win puts the Locusts at 59-47, while the Strip drop to 29-77.
