The Salt Lake City Locusts used a great performance from Jessie Downing, who leads the PL in strikeouts with 152, to beat the Minneapolis Millers, 2-1, at Derks Field. Mark Cahill earned the save for Salt Lake City, his 23rd of the year. The third-place Locusts go to 60-48.

Salt Lake City took a 2-1 lead on Jeff Bruce's 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Bruce hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Minneapolis pitcher Donald Richter visibly frustrated.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Bruce.
