The Las Vegas Strip eked out a 3-2 win versus the Reno Silver Sox at Banditos Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Lorenzo Morales. He was terrific. Morales yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 3-13. Las Vegas occupies last place in the Pioneer League South at 31-77.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Strip had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when first baseman Fernando Averado hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Joshua Santana and made the score 1-0, Strip. Averado went 3 for 4 with 3 singles.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Reno manager Zach Ames said, following the tough loss.
