The Salt Lake City Locusts picked up a win at Clark Field, knocking off the Austin Cowboys, 6-4. Starting pitcher Jessie Downing was a big reason why. Downing got the win, improving to 3-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 4 runs. Austin now is 7-5.

Salt Lake City used a well-timed hit by Pedro Rodríguez to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Locusts ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

Salt Lake City manager Nate McGinty commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
