Angels Raise Rally Flag, Beat Long Beach, 9-6
|
The Los Angeles Angels overcame a pretty good performance by Long Beach left fielder Marcos Ramírez, beating the Ports, 9-6, at Wrigley Field. Ramírez belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Los Angeles reliever William Lloyd was the winner. His record is now 5-4. The losing pitcher was Vic Sun. Bob García finished the game for Los Angeles and earned his 21st save.
Neil Guillén, who finished 2nd in the CL in extra base hits with 83 in 2012, chipped in a 3-run home run for Los Angeles in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Guillén.
The third-place Ports now sit at 55-53.
