The Sacramento Ironhorse took on the San Diego Breakers at Perris Hill Park.
Mick Hammond never let San Diego get something going. The Sacramento right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Ironhorse to a 4-1 win. Hammond, the winner, moves to 8-5. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 1 walk. David Williams closed the door for Sacramento, picking up his 18th save of the year.
Sacramento used the timely hitting of Gunnar Crawford to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ironhorse on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Ironhorse," said Hammond.
Sacramento has a record of 57-52, placing them second in the Pacific Coast League South.
