In a low-scoring game between the Mexico City Aztecs and the San Francisco Seals, pitcher James Thomas was masterful on the mound. The Mexico City left-hander spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. The last-place Aztecs bumped their record to 49-65.

Thomas, who leaned on his cutter, allowed no runs on just 3 hits over 7.2 innings for the Aztecs. For the most part, San Francisco hitters were simply overmatched.

"I had a good game plan," said Thomas. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Jaime Martinez said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
