The New Orleans Pelicans faced a tough opponent in Austin pitcher Rafael Infante, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Clark Field by a final score of 4-3. Infante went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. New Orleans is now 71-41, 8½ games up in the Pioneer League South.

New Orleans needed the clutch hitting of Kazuyoshi Kichida to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pelicans on top, 4-3. For the game, Kichida had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Kichida said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
