The San Diego Breakers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bobby McCarthy into a win. Instead, the Salt Lake City Locusts prevailed, 6-5. McCarthy threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Al Brown picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Jason Puckett suffered the loss. The win puts Salt Lake City at 63-52 this season.

Murray Keller, who is on pace for 104 RBI this season, helped out the Salt Lake City cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Salt Lake City manager Nate McGinty.
