Rainiers Mow Down Silver Sox, 10-1
|
The Seattle Rainiers used an offensive barrage to beat the Reno Silver Sox, 10-1, at Alamo Park. Gilberto Lugo, who won the Young Buck in 2008, led the way, going 2-for-3 for Seattle. Tony Domínguez, the winning pitcher, is now 10-8. He went 5 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 3. Seattle leads the Pacific Coast League North by 9½ games.
Seattle used the hitting of Daniel Fernández to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Rainiers on top, 3-0. For the game, Fernández had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Said losing manager Zach Ames: "We had a bad night. It happens."
