The Portland Beavers withstood a fine game by Houston second baseman Nathan Simon at Hogg Field, to upend the Lone Stars, 6-4. Simon went 4-4 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Robbie McDaniel. He tossed 90 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 11 hits. The Beavers are now 62-55.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for David Barton? The Portland second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Beavers on top, 4-3. For the game, Barton had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
