Aztecs Score Late to Nip Cowboys, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Mexico City Aztecs and the Austin Cowboys, pitcher James Thomas was the difference between victory and defeat. The Mexico City left-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Aztecs win. Alfredo García, who leads the CL in saves with 30, earned the save for Mexico City. The loss makes Austin 63-54.
Steve Walsh had a direct impact on the outcome. Walsh contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Mexico City up, 3-2.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Austin manager John Kolman.
