The Houston Lone Stars could not turn a fine performance from second baseman Steven Adams into a win. Instead, the Portland Beavers prevailed, 7-4. Adams went 4-5 with 3 doubles. He drove in 3 runs. The Beavers now own a record of 63-55.

Portland used a clutch at-bat from David Barton to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Barton told the Portland Daily News. "Whatever it takes."
