Mick Hammond, who is tied for 2nd in the CL with a 2.77 ERA, imposed his will on the Strip from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 2-0 Sacramento triumph. David Williams, who finished 5th in the CL in saves with 31 in 2013, earned the save for Sacramento. With the win, the Ironhorse have a record of 61-58.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Luis Rivera didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Las Vegas trailing 2-0, Rivera retired Alejandro Crespo to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Rivera, with a wink.
