Fans of the Oakland Acorns who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Oakland win over the visiting Mexico City Aztecs, 8-1. Jorge Rodríguez started for the home team against James Thomas. Jorge Rodríguez earned accolades for his performance. Rodríguez got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run.

Jorge Fernández had a big 2-run double for the Acorns in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Oakland leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from James Thomas, who finished 3rd in the CL in strikeouts with 330 in 2010, and swatted a double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Acorns ahead, 4-1.
