The Long Beach Ports got a superb performance from center fielder Pedro Young, but the San Diego Breakers still won the game, 6-4. Young went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Scott May closed out the game, earning his 4th save. The Ports fall to 8-10 and continue to sputter in the early going.
San Diego used the timely hitting of Damon Díaz to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Breakers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Díaz. "More importantly, I had a good game."
