Lyons Helps Phoenix Cruise to 14-2 Win
Phoenix defeated Kansas City, 14-2, in large part due to 2015 PL home run champion Kevin Lyons. Lyons drove in 3 runs. The center fielder had 2 doubles and 1 home run for the Fireballs. Daniel Rocha, who finished 5th in the PL in ERA with 2.77 in 2013, was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Fireballs, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.

With Phoenix leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Lyons hit a fastball from Edward Hockenberry for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Fireballs ahead, 3-0.

"That was brutal," said losing manager Marcus Jelks.
