Tadaaki Matsumoto was a major factor in the 7-3 Portland win over San Jose. The Beavers first baseman went 2 for 3 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. The win puts Portland at 3-0.
With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Kyle Veeck put Portland in front, 3-2, with a run-scoring single. The Beavers went on to win the ballgame.
Matsumoto told a Portland Herald reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
