Pelicans Deal Millers 9-6 Loss
|
Though he had a terrific game, José Vásquez could not prevent his team, the Minneapolis Millers, from absorbing a loss. New Orleans won the game, 9-6. Vásquez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jerry Beckmann notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-0. Picking up his 2nd save was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Williams.
In the top of the sixth, New Orleans first baseman Richard Orr had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Orr stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-3, New Orleans. For the game, he went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"I'm just out there trying to have as much fun as I can while I'm playing," Orr told the New Orleans Daily News.
At 3-1, the Pelicans have played well so far.
