The Phoenix Fireballs beat the Homer Yetis, 5-4, at Bombers Ballpark. The win was due in part to right fielder Diego Hernández, who went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2. The win belonged to Alex Battle in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jack Martin took the loss for Homer. The win puts Phoenix at 3-1.

Hernández had a game-changing home run in the top of the 13th. On a 1-2 slider from Jack Martin, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Fireballs a 5-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Hernández.

"If we keep winning the close games," Hernández said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
