The Mexico City Aztecs beat the Phoenix Fireballs, 8-5, at Estadio Tenochtitlan. The win was due in part to right fielder Rob Wright, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Jesús Fernández was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Alfredo García closed the door for Mexico City, picking up his 10th save of the year.

Mexico City took the lead on Wright's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came against Keith Smith in the bottom of the sixth, made the score 5-4, Mexico City.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Wright said.

With the win, the Aztecs improved to 14-20.
