Ports Knock Off Silver Sox at Tapatio Park
The Long Beach Ports tallied a win at Tapatio Park, throttling the Reno Silver Sox, 3-1. Starting pitcher Johnny Clayton was a big reason for his team's success. The winner was Clayton. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Ed Beck. Jim Rogers notched his 6th save of the season.

Steven Nolan had a big solo home run for the Ports in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Long Beach leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a circle change from Ed Beck, who is a two-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Ports on top, 3-1.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Nolan said after the game.

Long Beach is in third place in the Pacific Coast League South with a record of 16-17.
