Hogg Field was the site of the home opener for the Houston Lone Stars. The contest featured a prime matchup between Pedro Hardy of the visiting New Orleans Pelicans and Jackson Mendoza of the Lone Stars. The final score was 5-0, the Pelicans getting the win. Pedro Hardy turned in the best performance.

The Lone Stars had trouble solving Hardy, who surrendered no runs on 4 hits over 8.2 innings.

Said losing manager Eric Benson: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
