Millers Fight for 8-7 Win
Despite a great performance by Kansas City left fielder António Ruíz, the Minneapolis Millers defeated the Jacks by the score of 8-7 at Nicollet Park. Ruíz was 5-5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Darwin Madden earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. The win has Minneapolis at 15-22.

The Millers were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 26-year old first baseman Kenny Lawrence landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch fastball from Pepe Acosta into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Nicollet Park denizens into a frenzy and sent the Millers home with a thrilling 8-7 win.
