Multi-HR Day for Ball as Stallions Overpower Cowboys, 4-1
|
With third baseman Matt Ball leading the charge, the San Bernardino Stallions defeated the Austin Cowboys, 4-1, at Perris Hill Park. Ball, who is tied for 5th in the CL in extra base hits with 20, went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jason Gore recorded his 13th save for San Bernardino. The last-place Cowboys have lost 8 straight games.
With San Bernardino leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Ball hit a changeup from Eric Richards for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Stallions ahead, 3-0.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Austin manager John Kolman.
