In a low-scoring clash between Los Angeles and Long Beach, pitcher José Fuentes was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Angels win. Bob García earned the save for Los Angeles. The Angels, at 16-25, inhabit 5th place in the Pacific Coast League South.
Pablo Cháves had a big 2-run double for the Angels in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from Francisco Silva, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2007 draft, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Angels ahead, 3-0.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Fuentes.
