Jacks Use Late Surge to Win
The Kansas City Jacks topped the Salt Lake City Locusts, 5-3, the lion's share of the credit going to second baseman Bill Hapgood. On the day, Hapgood went 2-2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Jacks. Jonathan Ivey was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Bob García. Salt Lake City is 2-3 after the loss.

Had Hapgood not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Hapgood hit a run-scoring single. The Jacks took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.

"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Nate McGinty.
