With 5-2 Win, Lone Stars Improve to 24-20
The home crowd had a good time watching the Austin Cowboys and Houston Lone Stars get after it.

The Houston Lone Stars got a strong performance from pitcher David Allen, who stymied the Austin offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Hogg Field. Allen, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Mark Ervin picked up the save, his 2nd.

José Salinas hit a 2-run home run off Eric Richards in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Lone Stars ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, Salinas had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Winning is contagious," said Allen. "We're looking forward to the next game."

Houston is now 24-20.
