Owls Deal Rainiers 9-4 Loss
|
Owls third baseman Pablo Mejía put his stamp on his team's 9-4 win over the Seattle Rainiers. Mejía went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for San Jose in the contest. Tony Soto, the winner, improved to 6-2. He held Seattle to 4 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. San Jose goes to 21-26, Seattle to 19-27.
Early in the game, Mejía had a 2-run home run for San Jose. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Owls on top, 2-0.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Mejía told the San Jose Gazette, "and we played pretty well tonight."
