Dallas wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Cary Rice, losing to Las Vegas, 2-1, at Burnett Field. Las Vegas reliever Roberto González picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Bill Cregan was tagged with the loss. Charles Chandler converted his 14th save in 19 tries.

Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Jorge Mendoza to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Strip on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Dallas skipper Cameron J.

The current losing streak for Dallas has reached 5 games.
