Portland Loss Tarnishes Williams Performance
Multnomah Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Kansas City Jacks and Portland Beavers.

The Kansas City Jacks withstood an impressive performance by Portland second baseman Mike Williams to defeat the Beavers, 8-7, at Multnomah Stadium. Williams was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Kansas City reliever Don Follett got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Riley Green was tagged with the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Dennis Armstrong came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Portland pitcher Riley Green, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kansas City on top, 8-7.

"Winning never gets dull," said Armstrong.

The triumph puts Kansas City at 69-52 for the season.
