Beavers Earn Late 5-4 Win
Mexico City first baseman José Alvarado was sensational. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Portland beat the Aztecs, 5-4. Portland reliever Scott Witt picked up the win to move to 4-3. Brian Forryan suffered the loss. The win puts Portland at 66-56 this season.

Tadaaki Matsumoto was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Beavers first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Matsumoto told a Portland Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
