Oakland turned a good effort from starter Manuel Torres into a win over the Austin Cowboys at Clark Field. The final score was 3-1. The winning pitcher was Torres, now 6-9. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Robinson Pérez converted his 23rd save in 23 tries.

Oakland used a timely hit from Robinson Cherry to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Acorns ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Torres told the Oakland Daily.

The 4th-place Acorns now have a win-loss record of 59-66.
